When Hal Cole starts talking about trucks his eyes light up. "It's about helping people. People who are in the market for what I sell need this truck to make money for their livelihood. They will depend on it daily, so it has to meet high standards."

Those high standards have a long family history with Hal. This tradition in trucking began with Hal's grandfather; Harold L. Cole Sr. Mr. Cole designed, built and sold garbage trucks around the world. Mr. Cole also set the example of how important the customer is. "I remember family dinners and if a customer came to the door, we gave up our seat at the table for them. Always reminded that without our customers, we would not be dining at this table." An enthusiasm for trucks would begin here, but before he would be able to step out with his own company, experience was required.

Hal spent 16 years in a wonderful incubator at Colonial Ford Truck Sales, in Richmond, VA. During his time there his enthusiasm for the truck industry turned into solid knowledge. His ability to spec a truck to meet the application in which it would be used was honed. Some of the trucks he sold during his time there are still on the road today.

Hal left Colonial Ford in 1997. After working briefly with a partner in a Navistar dealership, he knows the time had come to test the knowledge he had acquired in a business of his own.

Hal opened Hal Cole Truck & Trailer Sales, Inc. at 11330 Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA in October 2001 with the vision of creating a unique dealership based on the principles he had learned over the past 20 years in the industry.This has been accomplished by listening to how the customer will use the truck and offering sound guidance the purchase of the best truck for the job is ensured. Whether a customer purchases now or in the future they are treated with dignity and respect. This allows the positive reputation of the dealership to grow.
