Mack’s Over The Air Remote Programming Service Now Provides Unlimited Parameter Updates

Mack Trucks’ Over The Air (OTA) remote programming service now allows for unlimited parameter updates via the GuardDog Connect telematics platform. Using this offering, fleet managers and drivers can install parameters for limiting the vehicle’s top speed, managing idle shutdown scenarios, and improving the efficiency of the Mack mDRIVE automated manual transmission based on the application. A free two-year subscription to this OTA service comes standard on all new Mack truck purchases, but customers can request an extension once the initial subscription runs out.

Driver-Activated Updates

The unlimited parameter updates announcement builds on Mack’s recent implementation of driver-activated OTA updates for Anthems, Pinnacles, and Granites, which allows fleet managers to give operators permission to install over-the-air updates when it fits into their schedules. Mack says it typically takes less than 13 minutes to finish a software update, whereas it often takes less than a minute to install parameter updates.

Driver-activated updates are available for vehicles built on or after November 30th of last year, but it’s also possible to retrofit 2019 and newer models using the Mack Premium Tech Tool. If your truck has a Mack EPA 2017 engine, you can take advantage of OTA updates as well. For older vehicles that don’t fit those criteria, Mack OneCall agents are available to guide customers through the installation process.
