Overview This new Peterbilt Model 548 Medium Duty conventional is configured as a construction dump truck for on/off-highway commodity hauling (asphalt), built with a 16' DuraClass end-dump body. Engine & Drivetrain Powered by a PACCAR PX-9 engine rated 350 HP @ 2,000 RPM (governed at 2,200 RPM) with 1,050 lb-ft of torque @ 1,200 RPM, 2024-emissions compliant. Paired with an Allison 3000 RDS-P Rugged Duty Series transmission, Gen 6, in a 6-speed close-ratio configuration with a dash-mounted push-button shifter. Rear axle ratio is 4.88, with the powertrain calibrated for a typical operating speed of 68 MPH and optimized for frequent start-and-stop duty cycles. Equipped with a VGT exhaust brake, PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator, PACCAR 12V starter, two PACCAR premium 12V starting batteries (2,000 CCA) with a battery jumper terminal and low-voltage disconnect system, an immersion-type block heater (110-120V), a Horton on/off fan clutch, and an 18.7 CFM air compressor. Safety equipment includes a UL-listed, hazmat-approved ABC fire extinguisher, a triangle reflector kit, and a 107 dB backup alarm. The digital 7" instrument cluster displays transmission oil temperature, air filter restriction, engine hourmeter, turbo boost, and percent torque, backed by a dedicated fuel filter restriction gauge and a dual-scale MPH/KPH speedometer. Finished in a two-stage Axalta paint with a glass-effect topcoat in Legendary Black. Suspension Rear suspension is a Hendrickson HMX EX 400 rated 40,000 lbs with a 54" spread (Haulmaax, 60K creep rating) and a double rebound strap kit. Front, side, and rear wall heights are 60", 42", and 50" respectively. Hoist is a FEE A6-134-K60-HD with direct-mount, air-shift hydraulic controls. Step package includes an 18" grip strut step under the driver-side front rubrail, a flatbar step at the front driver side, and two flatbar steps turned on edge inside the body on the driver side, plus a 2"x1/4" flatbar lower rail (tandem). LED light kit with harness is installed, with round-and-2-oval rear cornerpost light cutouts (minimum 38" tailgate height). Cab shield is a 1/2 cab-shield, 10-gauge design with a TISH/tarp style and 2 rounds. Spill apron is 10" schedule-80 for a 16°-slope tailgate (30°).
