The transmission is an Allison 4500 RDS-P Gen 6 Rugged Duty Series automatic in a 6-speed configuration with a TC-571 torque converter. It has a dash-mounted push-button shifter, auto neutral with the parking brake, and neutral at stop. A dash-mounted single-acting electric-over-hydraulic PTO control is included. Power reaches the axles through an SPL170 HD-XL driveline with two midship bearings and an SPL170 XL interaxle driveline. Rear axle ratio is 4.10.
Chassis & Axles
Wheelbase measures 289", with a 90.1" bumper-to-back-of-cab, 198.9" cab-to-axle, and 252.9" cab-to-end-of-frame. GVWR and GCW are both 85,000 lbs. Axle weight ratings are 20,000 lbs front, 11,020 lbs first intermediate, 23,000 lbs second intermediate, and 23,000 lbs rear. Maximum grade rating is 6%.
The frame uses 10-3/4" steel rails at 3/8" thickness with a full steel inner liner, zinc-coated anti-corrosion treatment, aluminum crossmembers, and heavy-duty iron front spring brackets. The end of frame is square, without a crossmember, so the body builder could install one.
The front axle is a PACCAR FX-20 wide-track steer axle rated at 20,000 lbs with a 4" drop. It has PHP10 iron Preset+ hubs and air disc brakes. Steering is a Sheppard HD94 dual-gear power steering system with a frame-mounted reservoir and cooler.
The rear axle is a heavy-wall Dana Spicer D46-172 rated at 46,000 lbs. It has a tandem differential lock with speed interlock, air disc brakes, and PHP10 iron Preset+ hubs. Two Watson-Chalin SL13 self-steering pusher axles are each rated at 13,500 lbs, with two included air tanks and an 11,020 lb pusher rating. They are spaced 50" and 98" from the forward drive axle centerline and use PHP10 aluminum Preset+ hubs with cast drums. Lift axle regulators are frame bracket mounted, with switches and gauges in the dash, and the lifted axles stow higher to maximize ground clearance.
Additional chassis features include a 6S6M ABS system, a tire pressure monitoring system, an SBM valve, and synthetic lubricant in all axles. The air system has two Bendix AD-IS air dryers with an EverFlow switching module and coalescing filters, polished and painted aluminum air tanks, pull cords on all tanks, nylon chassis hose, and a self-returning dash-mounted brake hand valve. Body air connections sit at the back of cab, and a 7-way socket is at the end of frame. Fuel is carried in a polished 26" aluminum 110-gallon tank on the left side under the cab, with a polished non-slip step and polished straps. A small 14-gallon DEF tank sits on the left side at the back of cab with a polished stainless cover.
The front end has a polished aluminum deep tapered bumper and a heavy-duty external tow eye. The polished aluminum space-saver battery box sits on the right side at the back of cab with side access. It is paired with a right-hand aluminum non-slip aftertreatment cab entry step and a battery jumper terminal. Rear mudflaps and hangers were omitted.
Suspension
Front suspension uses 20,000 lb taper leaf springs with Tenneco shocks, greasable front spring pins, and 70 mm spacer blocks. Rear suspension is a Hendrickson HMX EX 460 HaulMaax rated at 46,000 lbs with a 54" axle spread and a 70K creep rating.
Cab & Interior
The 121" BBC aluminum day cab has a Metton hood, a set-forward front axle, and a stainless steel crown and grille with tilt assist. It is finished in Axalta two-stage metallic Silver on the cab, hood, fenders, and roof, with a black frame. Exterior details include:
a bright side-of-hood air intake bezel, 4.5" rubber fender lips, a stainless steel outside sunvisor, a removable bugscreen behind the grille, and two roof-mounted 23" round Peterbilt air horns. Mirrors are bright-finish Peterbilt aero mirrors, motorized and heated with integrated convex lenses, plus a look-down mirror over the passenger door. The cab also has dark window tint, a one-piece curved windshield, a fixed one-piece rear window, and an NFPA-compliant textured exterior grab handle.
Inside is a Prestige interior in Sterling Gray with black Mordura seating. The driver gets a Peterbilt LX premium high-back air-ride seat with left and right armrests. The passenger has a Peterbilt ST high-back non-adjustable seat with a left armrest and a toolbox underneath. The multi-function steering wheel has audio and cruise controls and sits on a tilt/telescoping column. Power door locks and windows, a combination fresh-air heater and air conditioner, cab air suspension, a thermal insulation package, a rear-wall map pocket, intermittent electric wipers, and auto-reset circuit protection are included.
Audio and communications include a ConcertClass AM/FM/WB radio with 3.5 aux, a four-speaker mid-level package, Bluetooth phone and audio, a USB port, and radio mute in reverse. A Cobra 29 CB radio is mounted in the center of the header with a low-mount left cowl antenna, and global telematics hardware is installed.
The 15" digital cluster displays engine oil temperature, transmission oil temperature, air filter restriction, tractor and trailer brake application pressure, trailer reservoir pressure, engine and PTO hourmeters, turbo boost, and engine percent torque. Additional backlit gauges cover front and rear drive axle oil temperature, fuel filter restriction, manifold pressure, and pressure for both pusher axles.
