    About Beverage Trucks

Beverage trucks are designed to transport soda, beer, water, and other bottled or canned beverages, which may or may not be refrigerated, from bottling facilities and warehouses to retail locations. Most of these vehicles include a cab and chassis outfitted with a specialized truck body, though others are simply a semitruck pulling a specially outfitted trailer.

Freightliner Business Class M2 106 Beverage Truck

Available in medium- and heavy-duty models, beverage trucks typically feature swing doors or roll-up doors on the sides for easier exterior access, though some more closely resemble multi-stop step vans. If the truck has a rear door, it will also come with either a ramp or platform that lowers and raises for loading and unloading. Most heavy-duty models have truck bodies or trailers with as many as 24 individual bays. Each bay will have its own dedicated door, which makes it easier to load for and deliver to multiple stops along a route. Trucks with larger, walk-in compartments may have pallets with stacked product for bulk deliveries or shelving units for sorting beverage varieties for quick reference.

    What To Look For

Medium-duty beverage trucks have gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWRs) ranging from 10,001 to 26,000 pounds (4,536 to 11,793 kilograms). Heavy-duty beverage trucks have gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWRs) of over 26,000 pounds, and many of them are well over 33,000 lbs (15,000 kg). Popular makes and models include the Kenworth T270 and T370, International’s DuraStar 4300 and 4400, and the Freightliner Business Class M2 106. The M2 106 is a highly versatile truck that, depending on the configuration, can serve as a Class 6 medium-duty or Class 7 heavy-duty truck. It often comes equipped with a Cummins or Detroit engine rated for up to 350 horsepower (261 kilowatts) and 1,150 pounds-foot (1,560 newton-meters) of torque. There are also day cab, extended-cab, and crew cab options available, which makes the M2 106 well-suited for individual drivers and teams.
