    About The Kenworth T880

The Kenworth T880, first introduced in 2013, is a vocational truck built for a wide range of applications and industries, including waste management, bulk haulage, ready-mix concrete work and construction, heavy haulage, wrecker and recovery work, logging, and municipal work. They can be configured as dump trucks, vacuum trucks, tow trucks, refuse trucks, tankers, concrete mixers, and other vehicle styles to best fit the application.

Kenworth offers the truck with a day cab or one of three sleeper cab options, including a 40-inch (102-centimeter) low-roof flat top sleeper cab and a 52- or 76-in (132- or 193-cm) mid-roof Aerodyne sleeper cab. The T880 is also available in two set-back front axle configurations, a Standard Hood model with a bumper to back of cab length of 116.7 in (296.4 cm) and an MX Hood model with a BBC of 122.6 in (311.4 cm), or as a T880S set-forward front axle model with a BBC length of 114 inches (290 cm).

    Powertrain Components

    There are three PACCAR engine options for the T880, including the MX-13, MX-11, and PX-9. MX-13 engines produce between 405 and 510 horsepower (302 and 380.3 kilowatts) and 1,450 and 1,850 pounds-foot (1,966 and 2,508 newton-meters) of torque, while MX-11 engines produce between 355 and 430 HP (265 and 321 kW) and 1,250 and 1,650 lbf-ft (1,695 and 2,237 N-m) of torque. The PACCAR PX-9 offers up to 380 HP (283 kW) and 1,250 lbf-ft (1,695 N-m) of torque.

Other engine options include an 11.9-liter Cummins ISX12-G that produces up to 400 HP (298 kW) and 1,450 lbf-ft (1,966 N-m) of torque and a 14.9-liter Cummins X15 that produces up to 600 HP (447 kW) and 2,050 lbf-ft (2,779 N-m) of torque. Transmission options include the PACCAR 12-speed automated transmission, nine-, 10-, 13-, and 18-speed Eaton Fuller manual or automated transmissions, and five-, six-, and seven-speed Allison automated transmissions.

The T880 has a variety of axle configurations available from PACCAR, Meritor, and Dana Spicer. This includes front axles with weight ratings of between 12,000 and 22,800 pounds (5,440 and 10,340 kilograms) and single, tandem, and tridem rear axles with weight ratings of between 16,000 and 78,000 pounds (7,260 and 35,380 kilograms). Some models come with an integrated powertrain consisting of a PACCAR engine, transmission, and axles, which Kenworth says can reduce weight by as much as 500 pounds (227 kilograms) for added payload capacity.

    Technologies & Safety Features

Kenworth’s Driver Performance Center is at the core of the T880 driving experience. It features a 5-in, high-resolution, full-color display that provides relevant information about the truck as well as your current trip, including fuel economy and consumption, average speed, and engine hours. There is also a NAV+ HD in-dash display available as an add-on that has a 7-in high-resolution screen. It serves as the vehicle’s hub for navigation, roadside assistance, viewing blind spot camera feeds, and much more.

Kenworth T880s have a wide range of standard safety features, including stability control and driver performance assist, and optional safety features, including adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, lane departure warning, side object detection, and more. For added peace of mind, T880s also come standard with Kenworth TruckTech+ Remote Diagnostics, which automatically sends a notification out to fleet managers when the system detects an issue so they can choose the best course of action. Kenworth dealers also have access to this information, as well as fault codes, so they can get the truck out of the shop and back on the road as soon as possible.

You’ll find thousands of new and used Kenworth trucks for sale at TruckPaper.com, including a huge selection of T880s in a variety of configurations.
