    About The Mack Pinnacle

The roots of the Mack Pinnacle go back to 1999 when Mack Trucks introduced the Vision, which was a precursor to both Mack’s Pinnacle and Anthem lines. The Vision had an aerodynamic design and a sleeper cab purpose-built for long-haul applications. Mack introduced the Vision Day Cab in 2002 to support local operations. In 2006, the Pinnacle, which is known as the Mack Vision Elite in some regions of the world, succeeded the Vision. In 2012, Mack introduced an axle-back Pinnacle that ran on natural gas, as well as the Twin Y air suspension for both Pinnacle axle-back and axle-forward on-highway models. The Mack Anthem, introduced in 2017, replaced axle-back Pinnacles. (You can still find used axle-back Pinnacle trucks for sale.)

Today’s Pinnacle is a Class 8 truck with a 13-liter MP8 engine that produces up to a rated 505 horsepower (375 kilowatts) and 1,860 pounds-foot (2,520 newton-meters) torque. The truck has a gross vehicle weight that ranges from 35,000 to 62,000 pounds (15,875 to 28,122 kilograms), and supports a gross combination weight of more than 80,000 pounds (36,287 kilograms). The Pinnacle is available in day cab, 48-inch (122-centimeter) Flat Top Sleeper, and 70-inch (177-centimeter) Stand Up Sleeper configurations. The Pinnacle also features the Twin Y suspension that was initially introduced in 2012. Transmission options include Maxitorque ES and Eaton Fuller manual transmissions, mDRIVE and mDRIVE HD automated manual transmissions, and the Allison 4000 Series transmission. Owners have the choice of S38/40 Series axles, Meritor axles, and Dana axles.

    Standard Features & Options

From the Mack Pinnacle’s driver’s seat, drivers see a flat-bottom steering wheel, illuminated instrument control panel, a Mack Co-Pilot 5-inch full-color display, a 7-inch infotainment display, and mDRIVE controls if opting for that transmission style. The cab’s rear has sleeper windows with blackout shades, while the exterior has grab handles that make it easier to get in and out of the cab, LED lights for enhanced visibility, and an axle-forward design with higher ground clearance for on-road and off-road applications.

Among the Mack Pinnacle’s optional features are air disk brakes, the Mack PowerLeash engine brake, Mack Roll Stability Advantage by Bendix, and steering wheel controls. The Pinnacle sleeper cab also offers an optional stainless-steel refrigerator or a prep kit to install a refrigerator, microwave, or television.
