    About Nissan

Originating in Japan in 1933, Nissan officially entered the U.S. vehicle market with its Datsun brand in 1958. The first imported models included sedans and the compact Datsun 220 truck, which was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 1959. Within the next two decades, the company became the top vehicle importer in the U.S.

    Nissan Titan XD

In 1983, Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corporation (NMMC) built its first factory in Smyrna, Tennessee, and presented its first American-built truck. To help consumers get used to a new name, early models carried dual Datsun and Nissan branding. The switch from Datsun to Nissan in the North American market would last from 1982 to 1984, and was carried out as part of a larger global brand strategy.

In the 1990s, Nissan received recognition from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its contribution to the development of green technologies. During the period, Nissan tested its first Alternative Fuel Vehicle and introduced concepts for an electric car. As for Nissan's trucks, the Frontier Crew Cab became the first pickup with four full-size doors. The Nissan Xterra and Pathfinder were named the official vehicles of the Los Angeles County lifeguards and left a mark in pop culture after being featured in the "Baywatch" TV series.

    Pickup Trucks

Nissan’s lineup of light-duty trucks includes the Frontier, Titan, and Titan XD models. The Frontier King Cab can tow up to 6,690 pounds (3,034 kilograms) with its 3.8-liter V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission, and has a maximum payload of 1,620 lbs (735 kg). The model family offers beds up to 73.3 inches (1,862 millimeters) in length and up to 61.4 in. (1,560 mm) wide. In 2021 Nissan introduced its third generation of midsize trucks: the 2022 and 2023 Frontiers have new tech accessories, a quieter cabin, and off-road-oriented Pro-4X modifications.

Nissan Titan is one of the oldest trucks in the segment. Powered by a 400-horsepower (298-kilowatt), 5.6-L V-8 engine and featuring a nine-speed automatic transmission, the truck offers up to 9,323 lbs (4,229 kg) in towing and 1,697 lbs (770 kg) in payload capacities.

The larger, heavier Nissan Titan XD ranks in the full-size segment next to models like Ram 2500/3500, Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD. Its quiet, refined V-8 engine generates 400 HP and 413 pounds-foot (560 newton-meters) of torque, giving the truck a max towing capacity of 11,033 lbs (5,004 kg), and a payload capacity up to 2,406 lbs (1,091 kg).

    Nissan Vans

Nissan discontinued its commercial van lineup in 2020, but you can still find used NV200, NV1500, NV2500, and NV3500 models for sale in excellent condition. The NV200 is a light commercial four- or five-door van built for transporting people or small cargo. The NV1500 has a load capacity of 2,590 lbs (1,175 kg) and a 4-L V-6 engine. The NV2500 offered both V-6 and V-8 4-L engines and has a payload capacity of 3,142 lbs (1,425 kg). The heaviest option from the Nissan van lineup, the NV3500, has a 5.6-L V-8 engine and can carry up to 3,925 lbs (1,780 kg). It’s available in a passenger version that seats up to 12 as well as a cargo configuration with up to 218.9 cubic feet (6.2 cu meters) of cargo space.
