    About Ram Trucks

The first Dodge Ram trucks debuted in 1980, but the famous ram hood ornament has a longer history. It first appeared in 1932, designed by Dodge as a way to symbolize the ruggedness of its trucks. Dodge used the ram until 1954 before giving it a three-decade hiatus until 1980, when Chrysler’s then-president and CEO Leo Iacocca brought back the hood ornament and produced the first trucks to bear the Ram model name: the Dodge Ram and Dodge Power Ram pickup trucks.

Dodge remained part of the name until 2010, when Dodge and Ram split into a passenger car brand and a light- and medium-duty truck and van brand.

    Model Lineup

Ram offers a variety of vehicles ranging from half-ton light-duty trucks to medium-duty trucks and vans. The Ram 1500 received a J.D. Power award in 2022 in the “most appealing large light-duty pickup” category. The truck comes in three models (Ram 1500, Ram 1500 Classic, and Ram 1500 TRX) that are commonly used for personal and/or commercial transportation and hauling, and is available in Crew and Quad cab options, both of which offer seating for up to six people. Ram says the Ram 1500 TRX is “the quickest, fastest, most powerful pickup truck in the world.”

Among its heavier-duty options, Ram offers the 3/4-ton Ram 2500 and the 1-ton truck Ram 3500, which offers higher hauling capacity and engine power and is available in single- and dual-rear-wheel configurations. Ram Trucks also offers Ram 3500, Ram 4500, and Ram 5500 chassis cab trucks, which can be upfit to serve in a wide variety of commercial roles.

Ram Trucks also manufactures commercial cargo vans such as the high-roof Ram ProMaster, with height variations from 51.8 to 77.1 inches (1,315 to 1,958 millimeters) and the urban-friendly Ram ProMaster City.

    Features

Automatic load leveling–available on Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks—keeps the payload steady wherever the truck goes, whether that be a small driveway, highway or city street, construction zone, or rural area with uneven gravel roads.

The Ram 1500 also has a multifunction tailgate that is great for those who frequently use the pickup bed for hauling small freight. Drivers can automatically open the tailgate from the cab and use a Mopar Bed Step that is center-mounted for convenient access to the bed.

Ram offers highly intuitive infotainment systems in its trucks, as well. The Uconnect system supports voice commands and offers convenient navigation, versatile entertainment options, and synchronizes with your smartphone.

    Electric Ram

In 2023, Ram announced that the Ram 1500 REV, based on the brand’s Revolution battery-electric truck concept, would be its first all-electric pickup. The truck was slated for Q4 2024 availability and Ram indicated that it would be based on the new STLA Frame platform. Announced features include a smart charging port, extra storage under the hood, a new-look exterior, the ability to provide power to your home when your local grid is down, and more.
