    About Sleeper Trucks

Sleeper trucks, designed for long-haul trips, feature an extra compartment to the rear of the cab that is generally outfitted with a bunk, a refrigerator, storage space, and other amenities where the driver can relax and sleep through the night while on routes scheduled to last more than a day. Unlike day cab trucks, a sleeper cab gives drivers the flexibility to park the truck when their work day is over and eat and sleep in it, rather than mapping out roadside food and lodging along their route, as well as added security as the load isn’t left unattended for long periods of time.

    Freightliner Cascadia 126 Sleeper Truck

The earliest attempts to add sleeping berths to trucks date to the 1920s, though initial efforts resulted in sleeping spaces that were neither very safe nor very comfortable. The efficiency of two drivers, rotating between vehicle operation and sleep, created demand for sleeper cabs. Over time, the sleeping area was refined with larger space featuring comfortable beds, storage, refrigerators, microwaves, and entertainment options.

    Sleeper Cab Amenities

Today in the U.S., most sleeper trucks are conventional long-nose models and are available with single or tandem drive axles and a sleeper area in a variety of sizes with a flat, mid, or raised roof to allow drivers to stand up inside the cab. Popular models such as the Freightliner Cascadia, Mack Pinnacle, and International ProStar offer expansive, customizable living spaces with amenities such as refrigerators, microwaves, and televisions. Large comfortable beds, double bunks, and Murphy-style arrangements are available while the living space is further enhanced by dimmable lighting, stowable tables or dinettes with additional seating, and ample storage.

    Find The Right Sleeper Truck

You’ll find a large selection of new and used sleeper trucks from major manufacturers such as Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Volvo, and Western Star for sale at TruckPaper.com.
