Founded in 1968, East Manufacturing was among the first trailer companies to develop an aluminum body design durable enough to replace steel. The company’s innovation didn’t stop there; East has more than 30 patents for its trailer designs covering everything from sidewall and floor structures to cargo control systems. Today, the trailer manufacturer’s headquarters sit on a 100-acre (40.5-hectare) site in Randolph, Ohio, with 600,000 square feet (55,750 square meters) of manufacturing and warehouse space, and the company has 90 dealer locations scattered across North America.

A History Of Innovation

East Manufacturing is notable for several industry firsts, including the first successful aluminum drop-deck flatbed trailer and the first aluminum winch and clips. The company also made several safety features standard, such as PC-Rated LED lights on all trailers and non-skid flooring on flatbed decking, and introduced an integrated extruded aluminum side rail system with a Double-L winch to keep cargo secure.

Designed For Durability

East Manufacturing trailers are engineered to roll with the toughest transportation tasks, and the company’s lineup includes custom-designed flatbeds, dumps, and refuse trailers. Among the most popular creations is the Genesis flat sidewall design on East’s refuse and dump trailers, which the manufacturer says improves strength, has an appealing look, and is more aerodynamic, leading to fuel savings when compared to ribbed sidewalls.

East’s Tipper Refuse trailer has 2-inch (51-millimeter)-thick, double-wall extruded aluminum panels with a tongue-and-groove design with robotic welding for increased strength and twist resistance. The flooring has V-shaped crossmembers spaced 9 in. (228 mm) apart to increase support from the front to the rear and protect against floor wave.
