Read More (About Fuel & Lube Trucks)Machines worldwide need fuel and lubricants to function at top efficiency. Light-, medium-, and heavy-duty fuel and lube trucks are there to ensure that those machines have the gasoline, diesel, propane, oil, grease, and other products they need to stay on task on farms, construction and mining sites, and other jobsites.
Fuel and lube trucks are often cab and chassis trucks with bodies built to hold various amounts of fuel and sometimes related products such as lube, and to distribute those products to individual machines as needed. Some heavy-duty models are even light enough to not require a commercial driver’s license (CDL). Lube trucks haul lubricants and products such as diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) for a truck, antifreeze for a tractor, or oil for an airplane engine. Lube trucks can be used for a variety of general-maintenance tasks, so you’ll find them for sale in a number of differing configurations.
Fuel trucks and lube trucks commonly include a manual or automatic transmission, a 4x2 or 6x4 drivetrain, and an air ride or spring suspension. Diesel-powered engines from Caterpillar, Cummins, Ford, International, Paccar, or other manufacturers are also common. To make the trucks and their flammable cargo safer to transport on the road, many newer models include such safety-enhancing systems as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and automated braking, as well as backup cameras and monitors.
Tank sizes vary among fuel trucks, but 2,400- to 4,500-gallon (9,085- to 17,035-liter) tanks are fairly common. Many tanks are segmented into compartments that hold between 1,000 gal (3,785 L) and 1,500 gal (5,678 L). In addition to an aluminum, stainless-steel, or steel tank, fuel trucks typically include hoses in storage tubes or on hose reels, valves, a hydraulic or air-driven pump, one or more storage boxes, and a vapor recovery system. Many fuel and lube trucks are built with a flatbed-style body with various attached enclosures, towers, and storage racks to accommodate the tanks, pumps, air compressors, hose reels, grease barrels or buckets, and other components they need to carry out their work. Many lube trucks also have a waste oil reclamation system to collect used lubricant for recycling.
TruckPaper.com offers for-sale listings for a big selection of new and used fuel trucks and lube trucks from such manufacturers as Ford, Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, and others.
