About International ProStar

International Trucks, a Navistar brand, revealed the original ProStar at the Mid-America Trucking Show in 2006, and then followed it up with the ProStar+ (Plus) in 2010 and the ProStar ES in 2014. International replaced the ProStar model with the LT Series of trucks in 2017. The main hallmark of the ProStar is its aerodynamic exterior, which is designed to reduce wind resistance and improve fuel efficiency. The Plus model introduced several interior changes, like lower noise levels and more storage in the cab, and the ES model offers the best of everything International has to offer in terms of aerodynamic features.

Standout Features

Depending on the configuration, the International ProStar is a fit for long haul trucking, local deliveries, tanker operations, and heavy haul applications. It is available as a day cab as well as a 56-inch Low Roof, 56-inch Hi-Rise, 73-inch Hi-Rise, or 73-inch Sky-Rise sleeper. Axle options consist of Dana Spicer, Hendrickson, and Meritor front axles and single or tandem rear axles from Meritor or Dana Spicer. You also have a choice of different axle configurations, including 4x2, 6x4, and 6x2. These different options give the ProStar a gross vehicle weight rating of between 32,000 and 60,000 pounds.

The two engine types available for the ProStar are the Cummins ISX15, which produces up to 550 horsepower and 2,050 pounds-foot of torque or the Navistar N13, which produces up to 475 horsepower and 1,700 pounds-foot of torque. International offers several transmission options, including an Allison TC-10 fully automatic 10-speed; 10-speed Eaton Advantage; 10-speed Tremec manual; 9-, 10-, 13-, 15-, or 18-speed Eaton manual; and 10-, 13-, 16-, or 18-speed Eaton UltraShift+ PLUS automated manual.

For safety, the ProStar line of trucks offers air disc brakes, Bendix Wingman Fusion collision mitigation, electronic stability control (ESC), lane departure warnings, predictive cruise control, and RollTek seats that are built for driver comfort and to prevent injury during in the event of a rollover. It also supports the highly customizable Diamond Logic electrical system, over-the-air reprogramming, and remote diagnostics with the help of the OnCommand Connection fleet management platform.

ProStar ES

The ProStar ES offers many of the same features as the standard model, including the same cab, engine, and axle configurations, but adds what International calls the “Full Aerodynamic Package.” International’s Performance Engineering Team used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to achieve the best possible airflow and then tested the ProStar ES’s aerodynamics in a full-scale wind tunnel. The result is roof fairings, side extenders, chassis skirts, and other exterior components that all work together to reduce wind resistance and help cut down on fuel costs.

Other Options

There are three optional trim packages available for ProStar trucks: Deluxe, Premium, and Eagle. Deluxe package offers vinyl seats, molded plastic trim, double cup holders, and other features. The Premium package adds sound insulation, speakers, reading lights, two movable visors, and more. The Eagle package features woodgrain accents, extra storage, special door handle trim, four movable visors, and removable carpet inserts.
