    About Roll-Off Trailers

Designed to transport wheeled, open-top containers, these trailers roll off their cargo along tracks installed on the trailer chassis and are frequently used in construction waste disposal and commercial trash collection applications. Roll-off trailers function similarly to dump trailers but jettison the whole container from the trailer rather than just the contents. Some trailers can move multiple containers at once. They often come in lengths ranging from 12 to 20 feet (3.6 to 6 meters) with gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWRs) ranging from 12,000 to 30,000 pounds (5,443 to 13,607 kilograms), according to size. Tarping systems can also be added to cover the material being transported. The trailers come in gooseneck and bumper-pull configurations with steel floors or lumber decking options.

Roll-off trailers come in two main subtypes: electric- and engine-powered. Electric roll-off trailers use 12-volt hydraulic cylinders and a drum system and are typically used for light and medium loads. Engine-driven roll-off trailers use a motor-powered hydraulic and winch system and don’t rely on power supplied by the tow cab. Engine-powered trailers are generally used for heavier loads.

    Features & Capacity

Maxx-D offers roll-off dump trailers with a 45-degree dumping angle, a heavy-duty scissor lift, a hydraulic hoist, and a 22K Warrior power winch system. The manufacturer’s ROX trailers can handle bins with capacities ranging from 6 to 18 cubic yards (4.6 to 13.7 cubic meters) and have a standard GVWR of 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg). The ROX lets operators drop multiple roll-off dumpsters in various locations from the same base trailer.

Galbreath offers light- and heavy-duty roll-off trailers, including the Texas Tongue roll-off cable hoist trailer, which can transport two container loads. Other heavy-duty roll-off trailers from Galbreath can handle containers that range from 18 to 39 ft (5.5 to 12 m) in length and have dual outboard mounted lift cylinders for increased stability.
