    About Service Truck Bodies

CM Truck Beds CBA Service Truck Body

A service truck body is an invaluable tool that general contractors, electricians, mechanics, plumbers, and repairmen and more can use to store, organize, protect, and transport the tools, parts, and other materials needed for their jobs. Available in flat, open, and enclosed styles, service truck bodies are installed over the bed of a truck, either temporarily or permanently. A model with an open design typically has multiple storage compartments and toolboxes located on each side of the truck and a hollow section in the middle that allows for transporting larger or awkwardly shaped materials. Enclosed service bodies provide protection for workers and materials against inclement weather, dust, and other damaging elements. They also provide added security against tool and material theft.

    Construction, Features & Options

Service truck bodies are commonly constructed of aluminum or steel. An aluminum body’s lighter weight can help reduce fuel consumption while also being highly resistant to corrosion. Steel bodies are more durable and longer-lasting by comparison and generally less expensive. You’ll find service truck bodies available on the market in various lengths generally up to 14 feet (4.25 meters). You’ll also find some that are equipped with a boom or small crane, and some with outriggers, various types of tanks (including welding tanks), an air compressor, some type of hitch, a headache rack, and/or steps and a work platform built into the rear bumper. For organizing equipment, parts, and more, options are available such as roll-out drawers, pull-out trays, adjustable shelves, pipe and ladder racks, hose reels, and bottle holders.
