You’ll most commonly find shuttle buses providing airport and hotel shuttle service, and they are also frequently used to transport passengers to and from college and hospital campuses, sports stadiums, shopping malls, and theme parks. Governmental agencies use shuttle buses to transport employees, and various private tourism and party bus companies use these vehicles as part of their operations.

    A Host Of Options

Shuttle buses can be equipped with many features, such as wheelchair lifts, powered doors, video and audio entertainment systems, drink holders, tinted windows, air conditioning, storage areas, and other features geared to passenger comfort, convenience, and entertainment. They are most often powered by diesel or gasoline engines and have automatic transmissions and air ride and spring suspensions.

Ford offers its popular E450 with a shuttle bus prep package available with manual or power seating. A late-model E450 includes a six-speed automatic transmission, wheelbases options ranging from 138 to 176 inches (3,505 to 4,470 millimeters), and a 7.3-liter V8 Economy or Premium engine rated for 300 or 325 horsepower (223 or 242 kilowatts), respectively.
