Red Classic Receives 1,000th Mack Over-The-Road Truck
As a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Consolidated, Red Classic is the dedicated carrier for the largest independent Coca-Cola bottler in the U.S. The freight services and full-service logistics company likes to stick with what works, and that means adding to/updating its over-the-road fleet with Mack trucks. Red Classic recently received the keys to its 1,000th Mack highway vehicle at a special celebration at Mack’s Lehigh Valley Operations in Macungie, Pennsylvania. The new Mack Anthem was driven off the production line by Red Classic President Spencer Webster.
Mack Anthem Specs
Mack trucks have a reputation for rugged durability, but the company says that the sleek, lightweight Anthem strikes a balance with fuel efficiency, as well. The 6x4 Class 8 Anthem is available with a 48-inch (1,219-millimeter) flat-top sleeper cab, a 70-in. (1,778-mm) sleeper cab, or a day cab, as well as a 13-liter diesel engine with available power ratings from 415 to 505 horsepower (309 to 376 kilowatts) or a 12-liter Cummins engine that runs on natural gas. A healthy variety of transmission and suspension options are also available.
Driver Amenities
The Anthem delivers plenty of driver comfort, with onboard tech like Mack’s Command Steer feature, which reduces driver effort up to 85% and driver strain up to 30%. It does this through low-effort steering at low speeds, lane keeping assistance in high winds, and a steering wheel that returns itself to the center position during parking and reversing maneuvers. Meanwhile, Bendix Wingman Fusion 2.0 technology adds emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, and other safety assistance systems to protect drivers and pedestrians.
