Trail King 80HG Double-Drop Trailer

Successor to Western Ag Sales (WAS), which was founded by Gordon and Shirley Thomsen in 1974, Trail King got its name after WAS purchased Plains Industries, a company that was at the time producing machinery under the “Trail King” name. During the late 1970s and 1980s, the company expanded its offerings to include hydraulic tail and detachable gooseneck trailers and other machinery haulers. In 1983, it officially changed its name to Trail King Industries.

In the years since, Trail King has grown in response to increasing demand for its products and through the acquisition of other brands. At the turn of the millennium, the company acquired Ti-Brook, Inc. and Red River Manufacturing, and then in 2010 was purchased by Chicago-based CC Industries, Inc. The next significant acquisition for the company took place in 2015, when the Dakota Trailer Manufacturing facility in Yankton, South Dakota, was added to Trail King’s corporate portfolio.

Product Lines

With load capacities varying from 12,000 to 1,000,000 pounds (5,443 to 453,592 kilograms), Trail King manufactures lowboys, flatbeds, and dump trailers to belt trailers and multi-axle construction trailers for more specialized heavy-duty needs. Trail King also makes light-duty utility trailers.
